About the event
So many mums tell me that it's what mums do, fix their kids, sort out their problems and do things for them.Â
But, then your child starts at secondary school. Perhaps it's a bit further away and you can't whizz off and bring them something they've forgotten. You aren't waiting at the gate with the other mums and finding out what's going on at school from them.Â
Maybe they just don't want to tell you everything any more because they don't want you to talk to their teacher about it or come into the school.Â
As they become more independent and start taking responsibility for their school life, they need to feel that they can, that you trust them to make decisions and you're prepared to step away from doing everything for them and let them take charge. This really helps children gain in confidence.Â
I'll talk you through the Drama Triangle and we can discuss how you can step away from 'rescuer' into a loving supportive role that's going to support them as they develop into teens.Â
