About the event
For most children, Primary School is a very nurturing environment where you as a parent can feel involved. You know their friends and those they don't like! You know the mums and dads and see the teachers most days. You get to talk about their homework with other parents and compare experiences of the teacher and how the kids are getting on.
But, all this will change. Your child will need to be taking responsbility for their own belongings, choices and friendships. Their new school will have created lots of ways to make that all happen as fluidly as possible with open days, holiday camps and class lists and so on.
However, I remember as a mum of four, finding it quite difficult to move from fixing everything, especially with my oldest child to stepping back and letting them make their own decisions, especially if you feel sure it's the wrong one!
I'd like to take you through some ways you can lovingly step away gradually over the holidays to prepare them and to allow them to take more responsibility at home, make more decisions and so on. Also demonstrate how to use feedback to help them recognise their strengths and skills.
Whilst this workshop is for parents, I have one for children going into Year 7 also on the Workshops page. https://www.judybartkowiak.com/event-details/creative-approaches-to-heal-year-7-wobbles-2
on September 2nd 4-6pm ..... or you can book a1:1 therapy session for them with me of course. If you'd like to have a chat about what would work best for your child, you can book a chat here https://www.judybartkowiak.com/service-page/book-a-chat-with-me?
