Using the woods as a therapy room
Nature can be an active partner in the therapy process as we use the sounds, textures, colours and light patterns as metaphor for feelings. Being outdoors after a day at school, a long car journey or a stressful situation, can feel 'held' and not judged or feel words are required. Walking together side by side, where movement can feel relaxing and empowering, where you can sit on a log to chat, tap or just 'be', can break through any client therapist relationship and enable real connection.
