How to empower your older teen in preparation for leaving home

I was recently invited to talk about how parents can prepare their older teens for leaving home and my first reaction was that it was a bit late for teens leaving this year because if they've experienced years of being rescued or 'fixed' and not had to do things for themselves, then suddenly having to, would be rather stressful. 

However, as I got talking in the interview, I realised that there were some changes that parents could make, that might be helpful even at this late stage and it was as much as anything, more a matter of a subtle shift rather than an abrupt change. So this workshop is to give parents some ideas about how to make these shifts.
